This wonderful working example of 1930's design is sure to fit into your period decorating scheme. What I love most about this phone is the great RRRING that will be sure to get the attention of everyone in your household!
The Northern Electric No. 1 was a designed and made in Canada response to Western Electric's Model 302. It's electrically similar, but the case is much wider when viewed from the front, giving it a more substantial appearance. It was manufactured from the late 30's to the late 40's. The No. 1 is normally found with a standard F1 handset and #5 or #6 dial that were common on other Northern Electric products of the time. A large number were also produced with a British Post Office (B.P.O.) type dial with chromed fingerwheel. This No. 1 has a B.P.O. dial with an excellent red alphanumeric porcelain dial plate that shows virtually no wear. The phone has been completely disassembled, carefully stripped, and then expertly refinished with a beautiful black powdercoat finish. The F1 handset has been lovingly buffed to bring out it's original high gloss finish. As a finishing touch, a new cloth covered handset cord, and a modular line cord has been added to this classic. These cords were produced using the same machinery that Northern Electric used over 60 years ago. All components have been fully overhauled and tested to ensure that they will function properly both now, and in the years to come.
