The Automatic Electric Model 40 Monophone was introduced in 1938. This combined phone includes all the components required to operate within the casing, eliminating the need for an external network subset and ringer. The AE40 is a graceful example of art deco design. These rugged phones were made of solid bakelite and were available in a variety of colours with various trim options This particular unit is very rare "Nile Green" coloured deluxe "chrome trim" version. It has chrome bands on the handset, a chrome fingerwheel, and a chrome "pickup" bar under the handset. The body and receiver have both been moulded in "Nile Green" coloured plastic. The phone has been fully refurbished, and is in excellent working condition. The dial has been lubricated and timed to ensure that it will give years of troublefree service. As a finish. As a finishing touch, we have added a new Auotomatic Electric "extendicord" handset cord and a modular line cord.
