Automatic Electric were the first North American company to manufacture a self contained deskset. The result were the Automatic Electric 2 and 12.These phones were made of bakelite and the very next year, AE introduced the simlar 3 and 13 phones. The biggest difference here was the 3 and 13 were made of metal and wall mountable. This phone here is a number 3. The unmistakable profile of this phone is great example of the evolution of the deskset. The metal shell has been lovingly refinished back up to its original gloss and sheen. The dial has been disassembled, then cleaned, lubricated and timed perfectly. The original type 34 reciever is highlighted by its caps and is in great condition. A modern network and transmitter have been added to this classic to facilitate a connection to modern phone lines. A cloth covered modular line cord is also included.
