When the Type 1 Deskphone was introduced in 1925 it was the first Monophone produced by Automatic Electric where the transmitter and receiver were both located in a common handset. The base of the phone was made of Bakelite while the handset mount was made of metal. The phone was available in 9 different colours with either chromium or gold metal fittings. For operation,. it required a separate subset that contained the ringer, coil and capacitor.
The "High Boy" was available in both manual (non-dial) and dial versions.
This "High Boy" has been completely refurbished with new handset and line cord . It has been paired with an original Automatic Electric sidetone subset of the same vintage , and it is operating as per original specifications.
